Chocolate Toffee Almond Bars

Need a new dessert bar for your rotation? Good news! You probably have all the ingredients you need for this right in your pantry. But I must warn you: these are hard to resist. They are absolutely delicious and disappeared in a flash when I brought them to work. Luckily you can cut these into small squares, making it more excusable to eat more than one. It will be worth it.

These kind of bars need a foil-lined pan - just tear off a length of foil that's longer than the pan and tuck it in there, making sure that there are handles overhanging so you can pull out the bars later. Crush the graham crackers up, then combine them and the oats in a medium bowl.

Add in the melted butter

and stir until all the crumbs are moistened. Press this mixture into the pan, using the back of a spoon to kind of "pack" it in.

The rest of this is so easy! Pour on the butterscotch chips,

chocolate chips,

and almonds.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top of all the chips and nuts.

You can just tell this is going to be great, can't you?

Bake for 30-40 minutes

and then let cool on a wire rack. Place in the refrigerator to cool for another 2 hours. Then use those foil handles to lift the bars out of the pan and onto a cutting board. Carefully peel back the foil.

Cut the bars into small squares, and refrigerate any leftovers. Yum!

Chocolate Toffee Almond Bars

1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs (4-5 full cracker sheets, crushed)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup sliced almonds
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Line a 9-inch baking pan with foil, using enough to create handles. Grease the foil.

Combine the oats and cracker crumbs in a medium bowl. Add in the melted butter and stir to combine. Press the crust mixture into the prepared pan.

Sprinkle with butterscotch and chocolate chips, and top with almonds. Pour sweetened condensed milk over all.

Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack, then refrigerate for at least two hours before cutting. Lift bars out of pan using the foil handles and then cut into small squares.

  3. I saw this on the Tasty Tuesdays link up! It looks delicious and your directions make it look on simple. I have a recipe almost just like this that I am going to try except the bottom layer is crushed oreos and a little melted butter.
